The target group of the COBIT 5 Foundation course include, but are not restricted to:
- Business managers and executives
- Business consultants
- Business process owners
- Business and IT auditors, quality and risk managers
- Program and project managers
- Information security practitioners
- IT executives, managers & team leaders

- IT process owners
The objective of the course is to ensure that candidates knows the facts, terms, concepts, and principles, tools and techniques, roles and responsibilities from the COBIT 5 Framework Guidance and the COBIT Process Assessment Model (PAM).
Candidates should further understand the concepts, principles, processes, features, organizational factors and roles and can explain how these are applied to justify, design and implement the COBIT 5 framework and the COBIT PAM.

The formal course is based on a set of lectures supported by slides, student handbook, exercises and sample examination questions. This course consists of a student manual that expand on the topics covered in the lectures. Students should use this material to prepare for the exam.
There are no prerequisites that need to be met to attend this course.
The foundation level training and certificate is a pre-requisite for the following training and certificate courses:
- COBIT5 Implementation training & certificate
- COBIT5 Assessor training & certificate
It is recommended that candidates have experience of working in a management or supervisory role within an IT/IS setting or a similar business role.
A maximum of 16 participants will be allowed to attend a classroom course.
The course do not by default include the exam. The exam can be booked with the course or separately at a later stage. We strongly recommend writing the exam at the end of the course.
The exam consists of 50 questions and there is only one correct answer per question. The duration of the exam is 40 minutes and a passing score of 25 (50%) or more correct answers are required.
Exams will be supervised.
